A Minecraft player has created replicas of film assets within Mojang’s title and encouraged people to guess which movies they’re from. Given the low spec requirements on PC, iconic visuals, and appeal to all ages and gamers, it’s hardly surprising that so many people are still unleashing their creativity in the blocky world. After well over a decade, Minecraft fans across the globe still find great joy in building things and engaging with others.
When Minecraft update 1.20 launches in 2023, players will gain the new bamboo wood type to add to their arsenal of building materials. But there are already so many examples out there of players utilizing the game’s building mechanics to conjure up all manner of unique and spectacular structures or contraptions. Many of these projects come straight from the imagination or are reconstructions of real-life landmarks, but there are also those that like to make references to other aspects of pop culture.
That’s what Reddit user SunshineClaw has done. Through a series of Minecraft screenshots, they’ve managed to get others involved in a guessing game. Each image shows a blocky recreation from a famous film, and others have to guess which it’s from. For anyone who wants to have a go themselves, there will be no spoilers in this article. However, it’s fair to say that the majority of them are pretty obvious, though that doesn’t seem to be the entire point of SunshineClaw’s post. While it’s a fun little game, it also displays some pretty impressive building skills recreating some very recognizable assets from popular movies.
Movies are a great way of engaging with other fans, and this isn’t the first time someone has brought the silver screen to the pixelated one. Recently, one Minecraft user recreated the DeLorean from Back to the Future, and another has recreated the iconic opening crawl from Star Wars. It really shows that there is so much creativity and dedication in the community.
Given its world famous base building mechanics, players have spent years coming up with all sorts of things to make inside the influential game. It doesn’t seem like there will ever be an end to what fans can actualize. As long as there are people out there who are playing the game, there will always be examples of just what can be done.
Minecraft is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
