The video game industry finds many ways to celebrate Halloween during the month of October. From limited-time events and goodies to full-on additional modes, here are the events, patches, updates, and DLC to feature spooky new content in 2022.

The annual Halloween Terror event in Overwatch returns, for the first time in Overwatch 2! Live from October 25th to November 9th, a new limited-time co-op mission, Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride, and the OG Junkenstein’s Revenge co-op Brawl, are coming to the game alongside a number of spooky rewards to unlock!
From October 12th to November 2nd, all players in Destiny 2 can join the Last City tradition of remembering the lost. During this Festival of the Lost event, participate in Haunted Sectors, where an Exo and a Vex Mind have merged, a Guardian on Nessus is being hunted for their Ghost, and headless creatures prowl the dark recesses of the moon. With new lore and collectible cosmetics, there is something here for everyone!

Pokemon Go has its annual Halloween Event, in which there are various featured Pokemon (with cute spooky outfits), and limited-time Research tasks to help you earn a variety of resources and rewards, including spooky avatar poses and encounters with rare Legendary Pokemon!
Disney Dreamlight Valley Halloween Update
Disney Dreamlight Valley has a host of spooky goodies in store, with uniquely themed Tasks to complete. The current Disney Dreamlight Valley Villains’ Star Path is themed around Disney villains and spooky items have been added around the world, including buckets of candy and pumpkins, meaning you can make your village as ominous as you’d like, gift your Disney friends some candy, or both!

A total of 20 new Spooky items have been added and are available for purchase in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These include Baskets, Trees, Pumpkin Lamps, Fences, and more! Similar to 2021, Spooky Cookies return as a cookable recipe, so bake up a fresh batch and enjoy your handiwork!
During Fortnitemares 2022, DJ Lyka will await you at the Reality Tree on the Island to transform you into a wolf-like monster. Perform the Ritual emote as prompted, and gain the Howler Claws item, letting you swipe at opponents, and use the Wolfscent ability to actively track nearby enemies.
Alongside a Zero Build Horde Rush mode (which will be available for a short period after Fornitemares concludes), Unvaulted items like Candy and the Pumpkin Launcher, and a number of Fortnitemare-specific Quests to complete, there is plenty to keep you busy. Completing 5 Quests unlocks the Everything’s End Glider, completing 13 earns you the Chrome Cage Back Bling, and completing 25 unlocks the Unmaker Pickaxe to use in Fortnite.
Rust Halloween Update
Once every two in-game days in Rust, a 3-minute candy hunt event will begin! Collect as much candy as you can, and the top 3 players will earn special loot bags as a reward! You can get scrap, or you could get an M249! The Pumpkin Bucket item allows you to instantly pick up Candy, and the Scarecrow Wrap and Ghost Costume allows you to use “Candy Vision” to better seek out those sugary treats.

Elite Dangerous Halloween Update
Whilst not much is known about the Halloween update in Elite Dangerous, the following cryptic suggestions have been made as to the narrative direction of this spooky content:
“A harrowing tragedy has befallen a number of citizens in the bubble. What happened to them? Anyone who solves the puzzles and uncovers the truth will be rewarded with four unique cosmetics. Will you dare to follow the breadcrumbs all the way down the trail…?“
Cult of the Lamb Blood Moon Festival
The Blood Moon Festival has begun in the world of Cult of the Lamb, and runs until November 10th. During this time, you’ll have the option to conduct the Blood Moon Ritual within your temple. This allows you to bring back previously dead devotees, though you’ll need Pumpkins to perform the ritual, so ensure you grow as many as you can. Similarly, you’ll need the spirits of those that have passed on, so keep an eye out for any ghostly poltergeists floating throughout the world.
Tiny Tower Halloween Update
A seasonally-themed rooftop, lobby, and elevator are available, the former two available for purchase for 2,500 Bux each within Tiny Tower. Additional elevator customizations can be made, as well as a number of costumes for the various inhabitants of your tower!

SCUM Halloween Update
A legend on the island within SCUM has spoken of a cult that performed rituals to turn the moon red with blood. Having done so, strange phenomena begin occurring. With free additional themed emotes, and the ability to explore catacombs at the old haunted house, keep your wits about you so you don’t catch a fright!
Two Point Campus Halloween Update
As much as regular students might act like Zombies, these ones actually are! With teachers replaced by werewolves, and students shuffling around as the undead, alongside some additional customization options, join in on the fun in Two Point Campus before it disappears on November 1st! There is also a new Challenge Mode, with two Challenges: The Siege of Noblestead, and Pumpkin High. Some of the spooky content will remain after this date, though what exactly will stay and what will go is unknown!
Pokemon Unite Halloween Update

Running from October 27th to November 17th, this Halloween update within Pokemon Unite brings a lot of content. The Halloween in Mer Stadium Event returns, letting you Quick Battle and turn your opponents into pumpkins, with special themed rewards. The Pokemon Clefable is being added, with Zoroark incoming! A brand new Battle Pass and Ranked Season also begin.
Rocket League Haunted Hallows
Haunted Hallows returns this year within Rocket League! With the Jack-o’-Lantern cube bouncing around the Farmsteady (Spooky) arena, granting mutators like max speed and bounciness, and a homing Rocket Ball in the Heatseeker mode, be prepared for the matches you play to go anything but normal. Play matches, complete challenges to collect Golden Pumpkins, and earn spooky rewards!
Final Fantasy XIV All Saints’ Wake March of the Mischievous Costume Cortege
The March of the Mischievous Costume Cortege Seasonal Event runs from October 19th to November 1st within Final Fantasy XIV All Saints’ Wake. With the ‘A Mad Masquerade’ quest available in Old Gridania, as well as spooky outfit sets, a cookie-eating emote, and more, you can be sure to have a spooktacular time!
Old School Runescape Halloween Update

Running from October 26th and November 16th, within Old School Runescape you’ll want to speak to the costumed children by the west bank in Varrock.
From there, you’ll be tasked with trick-or-treating, and ultimately unlock a Witch outfit, as well as some additional spooky prizes!
FNAF Halloween Update
A minor yearly update for October 31st, the first 3 FNAF games receive some spooky decorations in your office to help spread the festive cheer!
Lost Ark Mystics and Mayhem
The Mystics and Mayhem event returns within Lost Ark, with a Mystic Abyss Raid event where you will face off against the Guardian Mystic, the Vykas Legion Raid receiving an Inferno Difficulty boost to challenge you further, and the Achates Trial Guardian Raid. Aldebaran is celebrated with a Harvest Festival, and Outfits, Structures, Skins, Pets, and a Mounts are all given a spooky flair!

Phasmophobia Halloween Update
The spooks are increased during Halloween within Phasmophobia. On Nightmare Difficulty without heavy rain; enter any location decorated with a pumpkin sticker on the contract selection board! You will gain 5 sanity per candy collected or Jack-o’-lantern lit. Search for candy! Light Jack-o’-lanterns! And then snap a photo of the ghost! If you check off every pumpkin sticker, you can earn a Halloween Trophy for your display cabinet!
Fall Guys Falloween
Falloween takes over the world of Fall Guys and is live until October 31st. A special show called Treat Thieves that is spookily themed brings some hauntingly good fun. There is also a new prize tracker that lets you unlock scary rewards upon completing specific challenges. These include the Pumpkin Patches pattern, a nameplate and nickname, as well as the Jack-o’-Loafers being the reward for fully completing the tracker.
Apex Legends Fight or Fright
The Fight or Fright Event is live until November 1st within Apex Legends, bringing with it a variety of special limited-time modes. These range from Shadow Royale, Gun Run, and Control. There are also a number of spooky Halloween skins available in the in-game store!
For Honor Web of Jorogumo

From October 20th to November 10th, a limited-time co-op PvE mode has been added to For Honor called Web of Jorogumo. Defend Meiko as they traverse the Market Town map and face off against some spine-chilling foes. Completing the mission will unlock unique rewards, whilst additional spooky items will be available in the Store!
Knockout City Holo-ween
Holo-ween has players in Knockout City matches that are knocked out dropping heaps of candy for those still standing to collect. The player(s) with the largest haul at the end of each match wins! Collect Holo-ween Tickets throughout the event and you’ll be able to acquire Halloween-themed emotes for the shop!
Multiversus Halloween Update
As the Gremlin Spike arrives in-game as a new playable character within Multiversus, spooky shenanigans follows him as there are Halloween skins available for purchase in the shop. Additionally, by completing matches during the Halloween event earns you Candy, which can be spent on icons, emotes, and even skins! Should you decide to play a game wearing a Halloween-themed skin, you’ll earn additional Candy!
Warframe Nights of Naberus

The Nights of Naberus event returns as Warframe’s yearly Halloween update, letting you earn new items with Mother Tokens, from skins to decorations. If you want to get your hands on some of these goodies, head to Daughter on Deimos and begin trading!
Minecraft Spookyfest
Spookyfest returns to Minecraft from October 4th to November 9th. Scary additions have been made to the Minecraft Marketplace, as well as 3 free items: Skull Mask, Skull Shirt, Skull Boots. In Minecraft Dungeons, a free 13-character Skin Pack has arrived, as well as the Spooky Fall trials, which allow you to earn some limited-time rewards, like the Red Phantom pet!

After playing through the original Resident Evil 4 dozens of times on everything from GameCube to Meta Quest 2 VR, Brian Altano got to go hands-on with the first 45 minutes of Capcom’s highly anticipated next-gen remake of this modern classic of survival-horror action. Is it noticeably scarier? Will it be darker than the original? Does it still have funny moments? Did they make any changes? Did the chainsaw guy get new abilities? Even though Resident Evil 4 Remake’s announcement might have been spoiled by leaks, the first trailer got us plenty excited, and seeing uncut gameplay footage of it in action has us extremely excited. Between the newer first-person games, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and Resident Evil 8 Village, and the classic third-person Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake, Capcom has clearly been reaching for the moon with the RE Engine. RE4 is one of the best horror games of all time, so we cannot wait for its release date – March 24th, 2023 when it comes out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
