Minecraft is one of the most popular video games in the world and the new 1.20 update is introducing even more elements like camels, bamboo rafting etc. Other than fighting monsters and hanging around with friends, some players use it to showcase their creativity. Combining their love for movies and TV shows with the endless possibilities in Minecraft, some players have constructed mind boggling recreations of movie and TV show sets.
Whether it’s transporting players to the world of Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, Minecraft aficionados spend hours trying to perfect each and every detail required to make the recreations as believable as possible. Players can explore these beautiful worlds without ever leaving the comfort of their homes.
Minas Tirith From The Lord Of The Rings
Lord Of The Rings is one of the most popular movie series in the world and so are the iconic locations in the movie. Minas Tirith was Gondor’s capital during the third and fourth ages. Movie fans will recognize this place from the iconic Witch King felling battle that took place in The Return Of The King.
The faithful recreation in Minecraft was created by EpicQuestz and players can visit the map here. The entire build took over a year to complete by a team of Minecraft builders. But the end result of the multi-level, slate white, enclosed city along with all the tiny houses was surely worth it.
The Shire From The Lord Of The Rings
Every Lord Of The Rings fan has at least once wanted to visit the Shire. Although a mythical place, even visiting its shooting location in New Zealand is on people’s bucket lists. But visiting it in real life just might take a lot of time and money, but fans can experience it in the comfort of their homes.
This detailed recreation was created by Minecraft Middle-earth and players can visit the map here. One thing to note is that this map isn’t downloadable, although players can hang around with their friends through the server. Interested fans can also help the team complete the Minecraft Middle Earth Project which is aiming to recreate the entire Tolkein universe in Minecraft.
Death Star From Star Wars
The Death Star is one of the most iconic locations in movie history. Even within the movie, the construction of the Death Star was a significant challenge, and recreating it in Minecraft took an excruciating amount of effort.
The entire build has used over 4 million blocks and the above timelapse video shows the unfathomable amount of work that went into each and every detail. The build was created by Paradise Decay and players can download it from here. The creator’s ambition is to recreate the entire Star Wars universe in Minecraft.
King’s Landing From Game Of Thrones
Minecraft is one of the best-selling games of all time. King’s Landing from Game Of Thrones and House Of The Dragon is both fascinating and scary at the same time. This recreation of the city in Minecraft is part of a larger project of recreating the entire Westeros in Minecraft and bringing George R. R. Martin’s vision to life.
Created by WesterosCraft, the entire build took over 4 months to create by a team of more than 100 developers. The city recreation has over 3,000 individual buildings as well. Players can access and download the map from here.
Hogwarts From Harry Potter
Every fan of the beloved series has wished to receive their own invitation to Hogwarts. Even though that (most likely) did not happen, fans of the movies and books can visit the iconic school in Minecraft and walk through the hallways reliving their childhood memories.
The build was created by Gabbel and users can download it from here. Players can visit the great hall, the four common rooms, and the library amongst others. The even better news is that the map is continually updated which adds more accessible areas and details.
The TARDIS From Doctor Who
Doctor Who is a certified classic and who can forget the iconic line, “It’s bigger from the inside.” But while building a real-life TARDIS is impossible (for now), a clever Minecraft player recreated the phone booth/time machine and somehow made it bigger from the inside.
The build was created by HiFolksImAdam and a short tour of the build has been uploaded on their Youtube channel. Sadly, players cannot download the map at the moment.
Being on the real-life Titanic might not have been a fun experience, but visiting the 1:1 recreation in Minecraft offers players the chance to explore the magnificent ship in a safer space. While it may not be a very comforting sight in what is considered to be one of the most comforting games out there, it’s still an impressive achievement.
Created by Deadkoalas, each and every room inside the ship has been detailed and labeled so that players can visit and relive some of the iconic movie scenes. The entire build took over a year to complete. The map can be downloaded from here.
USS Enterprise From Star Trek
Star Trek has one of the most dedicated fan followings out there, one such fan, Misa, who also happens to be a master Minecraft builder created a USS Enterprise replica inside the game.
This build also happens to be one of the first Minecraft builds to go viral, it was built using more than 9,000 blocks and on a simpler and older version of the game. But at the time of its release, it was incredibly impressive to watch. Sadly the map is not currently available for download.
Mines Of Moria From Lord Of The Rings
The dwarves in Lord Of The Rings were known for their workmanship and their hospitality in the Mines Of Moria, which also happened to be their home. Some Minecraft fans of the franchise were motivated by their workmanship to recreate it in-game. This is even more impressive considering it came out before the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update.
The build took over 3 years and was created by Goldcraft and players can download the map from here. The original build was done over a decade ago, that’s why it’s on an older version of the game. But the scale of the build and the detailing is quite impressive.
Winterfell From Game Of Thrones
“Winter is Coming” has become one of the most well-known phrases in all of TV and movie history. Winterfell was the home to the Stark family, a clan who are hugely important to the iconic show’s storyline.
While the show has been off-air for several years now, fans of the franchise can transport themselves into George R. R. Martin’s fascinating world in Minecraft thanks to the build created by WesterosCraft. They can even visit the location through their custom server. For people who just want to take a look, there are some Youtube tours as well.
